# Open source

PDFJade is going open source, under the MIT license. The code that merges, signs and compresses your files is the same code you'll be able to read, audit and run yourself.

The core idea of PDFJade is that your files never leave your browser. Right now you have to take our word for that. An open repository means you, or anyone else, can check it directly in the source instead of trusting a privacy policy.

License: MIT.

## What this will mean in practice

- Anyone can read the code and confirm no file, image or scan is ever sent to a server.
- You'll be able to host your own copy, on your own domain, for your own team.
- Bug reports and pull requests are welcome: a fix or a new tool benefits everyone running the site.
- The stack stays simple on purpose: plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no build step, no framework to track, so it's easy to read start to finish.

## Status

The site itself is live today and already runs entirely client-side. Publishing the source is the next step.
